Pickling cucumbers - smooth

FATIMA F1

Proven smooth pickling cucumber, mostly female type, genetically bitter-free and considerably resistant to downy mildew and other important cucumber diseases – CMV, angular leaf spot, scab and powdery mildew.  Fruits are slender, slightly longer   (L : D =  3,1 : 1), high quality.  Suitable mostly for warmer growing regions.  As the majority of nowadays smooth cucumber varieties FATIMA doesn’t cope well with sudden temperature drops during harvest season.

BOHDANA F1

Both fruit quality and disease tolerance is similar to FATIMA variety, however specifically the downy mildew resistance is higher therefore BOHDANA gives heavier yields.  Genetically bitter-free, mostly female variety.  Lush foliage, fruits are slender (L : D = 3 : 1) with blunt endpoints, high quality, rather light green compare to prickly varieties of JITKA and LADA.  Bohdana does better in warm growing regions and doesn’t cope well with sudden temperature drops during harvest time.

MILENA F1
(till 2005 previously Romana F1)

Similar to variety BOHDANA with its fruits quality and disease tolerance.  Genetically bitter-free.  Lush vines with slender fruits (L : D = 3 : 1), blunt endpoints and rather light green color compare to prickly varieties of JITKA and LADA.  Suitable to warmer producing areas.  Very sensitive to sudden drops in temperature during harvest season.

KAROLINA F1
New for 2009

Predominantly female, genetically bitter-free variety.  According to up-to-date tests this variety’s yields are even heavier than REGINA’s which is for smooth cucumbers rather exceptional.  Lush foliage, fruits are slender and longer (L : D = 3,1 : 1), high quality with  blunt endpoints.  Among the smooth picking cucumber varieties KAROLINA’s downy mildew resistance is one of the best.  It also shows high resistance to CMV, angular leaf spot, scab and powdery mildew.  This variety does best in warm climate growing regions and is slightly sensitive to sudden temperature drops during a harvest season.

AUREA F1

New for 2011

The plant growth is relatively vigorous. Leaf is rather small, lighter green. The plant is genetically bitterfree, predominantly female. Fruit is slim (L : D ratio = 3 : 1), smooth, spines are fine and white. BH-223 = AUREA belongs to and earlier varieties. Is fully resistant to CMV and more resistant to ZYMV as others smooth fruited pickling varieties; and also is considerably resistant to downy mildew (in field tests). Others diseases (scab, angular leaf spot and powdery mildew) haven't been observed during field tests so far.
